A brighter future
The Pend Oreille Public Utility District’s April Owen and Amber Gifford presenting the Kalispel Tribe’s Tell Hamilton, Alec Bluff and Madi Campbell with a $34,324 energy efficiency rebate check for completing major upgrades at the Camas Center for Community Wellness in Cusick. The upgrades are expected to save more than 305,457 kilowatt-hours of electricity each year — enough to power about 25 homes — while improving lighting quality and reducing maintenance costs. The Kalispel Tribe completed the project through the PUD’s Energy Efficiency Incentive Program, offered in partnership with the Bonneville Power Administration. COURTESY PHOTO|JOE HATHAWAY
