METALINE FALLS — The North Pend Oreille County Tree of Sharing has started its work for the 2025 holiday season.
The Tree of Sharing is a local nonprofit whose sole work is to provide gifts to children who may otherwise not have a memorable Christmas morning, according to a news release from Metaline Falls Mayor Tara Leininger. All families in the greater north Pend Oreille County are eligible to request a gift.
A request form for each child is required, and there is a $75 limit on requests. Once requests are submitted, “ornaments” are placed on special Christmas trees in a variety of locations for locals to purchase requested items.
Parents and guardians are reminded that they may only make one request per child, and that the child must live in north Pend Oreille County in or around Ione, Metaline and Metaline Falls.
Children up to age 16 are eligible to receive a gift.
The Tree of Sharing is not affiliated with the Selkirk School District, though forms are sent home with students. Parents and guardians who homeschool can find forms at six locations: the Falls Market, Cutter Theatre, Metaline Town Hall, Ione Town Hall, Country Hardware and Wheatland Bank. Donations can be made there or by mailing a check to Tree of Sharing, PO Box 156, Metaline Falls, WA 99153.
