BRIEFLY MGs hosting ‘Edible Landscaping’ class

NEWPORT — A Master Gardener and certified permaculture designer is presenting on the principles of permaculture and their application to edible landscaping.

Kamori Cattadoris’ presentation on permaculture will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13 at the Create Arts Center, 900 4th St. in Newport. According to a Master Gardener news release, permaculture is a holistic design approach that integrates environmental, functional and aesthetic considerations to create sustainable and productive landscapes.

Cattadoris’ session will focus on the strategic selection and arrangement of perennial plants, complemented by edible and otherwise useful species, to create harmonious and functional outdoor spaces.

The class fee is $5, or $3 for Master Gardeners, and can be paid with cash, check, money order or PayPal.

Local holiday play lowers ticket prices

NEWPORT — Out of the Box Entertainment has lowered ticket prices to their upcoming holiday play, “Merry Christmas, Mr. Marconi.” Tickets to the play are now $10 for adults and $5 for children.

The traveling theatre troupe encourages locals to experience the warmth of the season by attending the play. This show is for those who enjoy a sweet family story, radio shows, Christmas carols and pictures with Santa Claus, according to an Out of the Box Entertainment news release. There are four show dates and locations: the first at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21 at the American Lutheran Church in Newport, the second at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22 at Spirit Lake Presbyterian Church, the third at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23 at Create Arts Center in Newport and the fourth at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30 at the Cusick American Legion. The fourth and final show also includes high tea served by the American Legion, costing $15 for adults and $10 for children.

Cutter holding annual Turkey Bingo

METALINE FALLS — The Cutter Theatre is soon to hold this year’s annual Turkey Bingo at 1 and 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16. Blackout prizes will be turkeys from the Falls Market. There will be many new prizes, according to a Cutter Theatre news release. The cost to play is still $5 per card for a session and $5 for lunch.

Holiday artists shop opening at Create

NEWPORT — A holiday artists’ shop is opening at Create Arts Center from Thursday, Dec. 4 to Sunday, Dec. 7. The shop’s hours are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Thursday, Dec. 4 to Saturday, Dec. 6 and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7. Among the art for sale will be oil paintings by Travis Nash, fiber and wood art by Judy and Make Graham, Czech glass bead art by Cynthia Bowerman, pottery by Naomi Elting, fused glass art by Julia Craze, wire art by Weezil and “women of the woods” by Kathy Young. There will also be refreshments and live music on Friday, Dec. 5 by Just Andy, Saturday, Dec. 6 by Ben Kardos and Thursday, Dec. 4 and Sunday, Dec. 7 by Joanne Heinz.
