Spartan girls place 10th at state

LEWISTON – Priest River cross-country put foot to grass at the 2025 IHSAA Cross Country Championships Friday- Saturday, Oct. 31Nov. 1 in Lewiston.

“I’m proud of each and every one of them,” coach Krystal Barton says. “We didn’t get any trophies, but they all got new personal records, and they all ran their best.”

Lady Spartans placed 10th overall in the girls’ 5,000-meter 3A varsity race with a score of 262. Junior Alannah McLaimtaig finished in 41st place with a time of 21:44. Senior Kyla White clocked in at 23:04, finishing in 53rd place. Maiyu Smith, a freshman, finished in 59th place at 24:06. Junior Breelyn Duran had a time of 24:50 at 67th. Classmate Sakura Smith was 70th with a time of 25:55. Freshman Abagail Shaulis placed 72nd at 26:19, managing to shave off seven seconds of her previous time despite shin pain. Unfortunately, Capri White couldn’t compete due to an injury.

Freshman Tadhg Mc-Laimtaig finished 47th with a time of 17:32 in the 5,000-meter 3A varsity race. Junior Daniel Gunkle clocked in at 18:03, earning him 62nd place.
