NEWPORT — The Pend Oreille County Auditor’s Office has issued corrected ballots to a small number of voters after an error was identified in some ballots for the Nov. 4 election. A total of 15 voters received ballots that did not include the Fire Protection District No. 4 race. As soon as the issue was discovered, the Auditor’s Office took immediate action to correct it, according to Pend Oreille County Auditor Marianne Nichols. New, corrected ballots have been sent to all affected voters.
Voters who received a corrected ballot are asked to vote and return the replacement ballot, which served as their official ballot for this election. For the fastest delivery, ballots could be placed in the drop box located in the alley next to the courthouse or the drop box inside the courthouse. Ballots had to be returned no later than Tuesday, Nov. 4.
“We appreciate the voter’s and candidates understanding and cooperation,” Nichols said. “Accuracy and transparency are top priorities for our office, and we are committed to ensuring that every voter has the opportunity to cast a complete and correct ballot.”
