Cusick junior Richard Sandwick brought home a sixthplace medal after winning one of the top spots at the 2025 WIAA State XC Championships in Pasco, Friday-Saturday, Nov. 7-8. Sandwick clocked in a finishing time of 17:17 in the boys’ 5,000-meter varsity race. “It was his best race of the season, and he did exactly what he set out to do,” coach Sophia Larson said. Pictured above are Sandwick and Mark Rednour, a former cross-country runner who still holds records at Newport High School and is an avid supporter of the Panthers cross-country program.
