COULEE CITY – Almira- Coulee/Hartline is still in the state 1B football playoff tournament, after beating Entiat 57-14 last Saturday. ACH is the No. 4 seed in the tourney and Entiat the No. 13 seed.
Other Northeast 1B League teams were knocked out, including Odessa (No. 8 seed), who lost 64-8 to Naselle (No. 5 seed) and Wilbur-Creston- Keller (No. 10 seed) who fell to Darrington 44-30.
Pomeroy, a team Cusick played in its last game of the season, beat Tulalip Heritage 86-22. Pomeroy is the No. 6 seed and Tulalip Heritage is the No. 11 seed.
Panther, Ranger rival out at state
CUSICK — A rival of the Cusick and Selkirk High School volleyball teams was eliminated from the 1B State Volleyball Tournament Saturday, Nov. 12.
Cusick (7-7, 7-11) and Selkirk (6-6, 8-10) finished their season third and fourth in the Northeast 1B North league, both behind Northport (10-1, 17-7). Northport was the only team in the league to advance to state, though Republic (12-1, 17-6) had finished first.
Northport won their first game but lost their second, advancing to a third loser-out game. After losing that game too, Northport was eliminated.
Grizzly rivals win, place at state
NEWPORT — Two rivals of the Newport High School volleyball team placed at the state tournament, with Northwest Christian winning the championship Thursday, Nov. 13.
Newport (8-4, 12-7) finished their season third in the Northeast 2B North league, behind Davenport (10-2, 16-7) and Northwest Christian (13-0, 23-2), who both advanced to the 2B State Volleyball Tournament. Davenport placed seventh in the tournament after losing their first game, then winning the following three. Meanwhile, Northwest Christian won all four of their games, advancing to the championship and winning against Freeman.
Rival falls with Spartans at state
PRIEST RIVER — Like their rivals at Priest River Lamanna Senior High School, Kellogg was eliminated at the 3A State Championship Friday, Oct. 31.
Kellogg (8-0, 21-3) and Priest River (6-2, 17-5) both advanced to state after finishing their season first and second in the 3A Central Idaho league.
Kellogg won their first game at state, but lost their second and third, eliminating them from the tournament.
