NEWPORT — Pend Oreille County Superior Court Judge Jessica Reeves announced her retirement, effective Wednesday, Dec. 31, according to a news release from Gov. Bob Ferguson.
Reeves was first elected to the court in 2016, defeating Terry L. Williams. She was unopposed when she ran in 2020 and 2024. By stepping down before her term expires, she allows Ferguson to name her successor.
Prior to being elected in 2016, she worked as a deputy prosecutor in Stevens County from 2014– 2016. She was Stevens County Superior Court Commissioner from 2011–2014 and as District Court Commissioner and Judge Pro tem from 2011–2014. A 2004 graduate of Gonzaga University School of Law, she was self-employed as an attorney from 2005–2011.
According to the news release from Fergerson’s office, he is now seeking qualified members of the Washington State Bar Association to submit applications to fill Reeves’s position on the Stevens, Pend Oreille and Ferry Counties Superior Court.
To be considered for this vacancy, applicants should promptly submit the completed Uniform Judicial Evaluation Questionnaire, a brief resume, the information waiver and at least two letters of recommendation, according to the news release from Ferguson’s office.
All applications must be completed and submitted to the Governor’s Office by Monday, Dec. 8. Any judicial evaluation ratings should be submitted to the Governor’s Office of Legal Counsel as soon as possible.
