They are as follows: * Camden Grange and Community Center Committee at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1 * Wing Chun Kung Fu from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays except on holidays; for more information, contact Karl Winter at [email protected] and RSVP for a free first class * Family Trivia Night from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10; free and open to the public * Farmers and Artisans Christmas Market from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13; if interested in selling at the market, contact Melissa at 509-309-9370 or check Camden Grange’s Facebook page * Teen Game and Pizza Night from 7 to 9 p.m.

Tuesday, Dec. 16; free to everyone ages 12 to 18, with parental approval via a required permission form; no registration required * Quilting Club from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Dec. 17 * Camden Grange Book Club from noon to 2 p.m.

Wednesday, Dec. 31; free to everyone; attendees with spinning wheels are asked to bring them, otherwise organizers will provide treadles; attendees with their own wool or fleece to trade are asked to bring those too All events are held at 7 Camden Road, Elk. When attendees register for classes at camdengrange.org, they are asked to show up; they may pay for classes at the door, by check or by using cash. Camden Grange is a drug- and alcohol-free facility.

Visitors are encouraged to check out Camden Grange’s free lending library box, located on the front porch. The box is filled with free books for youth, teens and adults.

Prepare for the Christmas Bird Count

NEWPORT — The 23rd annual Pend Oreille Christmas Bird Count is Saturday, Dec. 20.

The count area is a circle 15 miles in diameter. It extends from Newport/Oldtown in the east to Sacheen Lake on the west and from around the old Ponderay Newsprint mill in the north to Scotia Road in the south. The mobile people will meet at Audrey’s Restaurant at 7 a.m., have a short coffee, assign routes and hit the road about 7:30.

New people are welcome to join, either driving or counting birds at a feeder or just walking around their neighborhood. The count includes a 24-hour period from midnight before to the midnight after. The mobile folks will meet at 4 p.m. or so at Mi Pueblo restaurant in Newport to combine numbers and talk over the day’s events.
