A peaceful rally to “Drive Out Hunger,” sponsored by We the Community Umbrella (WeCU), Pend Oreille Democrats and Indivisible was held last Saturday morning at Newport’s Big Wheel. Twenty-four people waved signs to protest many policies of the Trump administration including the uncertainty of federal food programs. Additionally, nonperishable food was collected and donated to the Newport Food Bank.
