NEWPORT — Newport Hospital and Health Services recently expanded its parking lot to include five publicly available electric vehicle charging stations.
The installation features four dual-port Direct Current Fast Chargers and one Level 2 charger. It was supported by a Washington State Department of Transportation grant and collaboration with EVCS, one of the largest EV fast-charging networks on the West Coast.
NHHS’s portion of the parking lot improvement project is expected to cost $320,000. That includes repaving lots A and B, adding five parking lights, engineering plans, retaining walls and striping. Besides the EV chargers, SVCS covered the cost of three more parking lights.
“We’re growing and expanding the ways we provide exceptional, quality care to our community,” NHHS CEO Kim Manus said in an NHHS news release. “It’s a win-win to be able to serve both our community and our infrastructural needs.”
NHHS was approached for inclusion in the statewide EV charging project along Highway 20 in 2024.
