PRIEST RIVER — The Priest River Lamanna Senior High School girls’ basketball team got their first loss and second win of the season last week.
Tuesday, Dec. 2, Priest River hosted Kellogg in their 3A Central Idaho League opener, losing 49-25. The Spartans were trailing 28-12 by intermission, according to the Bonner County Daily Bee, and stayed behind for the rest of the game.
“Kellogg game was tough,” Priest River coach Tyler Douglas says. “They have two really good guards, and we missed a lot of shots around the rim and free throws.”
Aleigha Jensen got a team-high 12 points, while McKinley Burgess- Duquette recovered from an ankle injury and got 9 points, according to the Bee.
Thursday, Dec. 4, the Spartans went to Clark Fork, winning 41-23. Unlike on Tuesday, Priest River took the lead from the first quarter and kept it through the end of the fourth.
“Clark Fork was a little bit of a struggle,” Douglas says. “And then Aleigha hit three 3’s in the fourth quarter to help us pull away.”
Jensen got a total of 17 points, Burgess-Duquette 13. Haley Rice and Haylee Jepson-Church added 7 and 4 points.
Their away game against Orofino was rescheduled to 3:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9.

Maries the next night at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11 and Grangeville at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13.
