CUSICK – Three Cusick Panther football players received Northeast 1B League All League honors, including junior Judah Sutton who was named defensive MVP.
Sutton was also named to the offensive All League first team as a running back, along with wide receiver Daniel Lyon, who was also named to second team defense as a defensive back.
Wide receiver Charles Whitford received second team offense honors.
Panthers beaten thrice
CUSICK — The Cusick High School girls’ basketball team lost three games last week.
The first was at home Tuesday, Dec. 9 against Valley Christian (3-2, 2-1), who won 52-44. Cusick (1-4, 0-3) next hosted Inchelium (3-1, 2-0) Friday, Dec. 12, losing 50-35, before visiting Northport (6-0, 2-0) Saturday, Dec. 13. There the Panthers ended their week with a 23-33 loss.
Cusick next hosts Columbia at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20.
SelPort players get All League honors
IONE — Two players from the SelPort team, a team with players from Selkirk and Northport, were given All League honors in the Northeast 1B League.
Defensive lineman Judah Creach, a junior, was named first team defense. He was also selected for second team offense as an offensive lineman.
Blaine Riekers, a junior, was chosen for second team offense as a running back.
Newport headed to Best of The West
NEWPORT — The Grizzly wrestling team hosts Davenport at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17. Then it’s off to compete in Best of The West Friday to Saturday, Dec. 19 to 20 at Pasco High School.
Priest River girls’ wrestling at Lakeland
PRIEST RIVER — The Lady Spartan wrestling team is headed to Lakeland High School Saturday, Dec. 20 (TBA). A home match was scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 17 but was canceled.
Selkirk wrestling crosses state lines this week
IONE — It’s a busy week for the Selkirk High wrestling team starting with a league match in Chewelah Wednesday, Dec. 17. After that it’s off to North Idaho College for a tournament Friday to Saturday, Dec. 19 to 20, then the East Valley Winter Clash Monday, Dec. 22 at East Valley High School in Spokane Valley.
