PRIEST RIVER — The Priest River Lamanna High School girls’ basketball team won their last game before Christmas Break.
Tuesday, Dec. 16 the Spartans (5-2) went to Riverside (0-8, 0-0), winning 40-18 against the Rams.
Priest River took the lead from the first quarter with 15 points and held Riverside scoreless. Though Riverside managed to get six points by intermission, Priest River scored 19. That gap only continued to widen in the third and fourth quarters leading up to the end of the game.
“McKinley was really good down low,” Priest River coach Tyler Douglas says. “Haylee Jepson was flying around getting steals and rebounds and got to the rim well.”
Leading scorers that night were McKinley Burgess-Duquette with 16 points, Aleigha Jensen with 12 and Jepson with 8. Jensen also hit a couple 3-pointers.
The Spartans next go to West Valley for two more games. The first is against Shadle Park at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, the second against St. George’s at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29.
