ROYAL CITY — Selkirk Ranger wrestlers placed in the top two at the Royal Boys Christmas Tournament Saturday, Dec. 27.
Jaxson Chantry (13-4) placed second in the 150-pound weight division and scored 21.5 team points. In the Champion Round, round one, Jaxson Chantry received a bye. In round two he won by tech fall over Ricardo Garcia of Royal. In the quarterfinal Chantry won by fall over Aiden Lopez of Kiona Benton. Chantry went into the semifinal with a win by decision over Jacob Johnson of Columbia Burbank. He lost the first-place match to Logan Stucker of Tonasket by fall.
Jameson Davis (14-3) placed second in the 165-weight bracket and scored 21.0 team points. Davis received a bye in the Championship Round, round one. In round two Davis won by tech fall over Adam Mora of Kiona Benton. Davis went on to win the quarterfinal by tech fall over Joshua Forsyth of Connell. He won by a 2-1 decision in the semifinal over Cael Orth of Royal.
Jance Novak of Cashmere ended Davis’s winning streak in the first-place match by a fall.
Tristan Vanarsdall, 190, (9-9) place is unknown, and he scored 6.0 team points. In round one of the Championship Round, Vanarsdall received a bye. He won by fall over Evan Tipps of Almira-Coulee-Hartline in the second round. In the Quarterfinal Vanarsdall lost in a 13-6 decision to Matthew Garcia of Columbia Burbank.
Next up Selkirk travels to Almira-Coulee-Hartline for the Banks Lake Tournament Saturday, Jan. 3. The team will be in Davenport for a league match Wednesday, Jan. 7.
