They Came Two by Two

I was sitting on the deck on a sunny afternoon sipping on a cold beer, As I looked up in the sky watching the clouds I saw a pair of geese flying near, They landed in the middle of the open field right in front me, they had cautiously circled looking for signs of danger with a skilled degree.

They must have been the scouts sent ahead to find a safe place to rest, shortly after their arrival came their friends assuming the leaders know best.

They came in two-by-two circling and touching down like the first, then more came in larger groups, looking like their routine was rehearsed.

They fell into line like an army lining up one then another abreast, once a certain number arrived the ones on each end turned on cue I guessed.

They looked to be on guard looking for those planning for mischief, the location was strategic more rows were formed and there was no sheriff.

Amazingly I saw a Wiley coyote trying to creep up to pick off a goose from behind, Luckily, he was discovered and what happed next is stuck in my mind.

A gang of 5 geese went on the attack viciously snaping to put the coyote on the run, a positive reminder that when you work together you get to see another setting sun.
