Grab some science, win a prize

NEWPORT — Selkirk Alliance for Science activates its sixth annual Science Wiz Quiz to begin and continue with a new question each Monday throughout January.

The purpose is to unlock the wonder and mystery of Pend Oreille County and the surrounding region.

Each question includes optional answers, and SAS permits searching the Internet for the correct one. Topics range from human health or behavior, plant or animal traits, land features, weather phenomena, deep space and science career or citizen participation.

Anyone can enter online at www.selkirkscience.org/wizquiz.

Contestants may enter only one answer per question.

At the end of each week, the answer to that question will be posted on the website and a free science pocket guide will be awarded and mailed to one randomly drawn person who correctly answered it.

The website also displays questions and answers from prior years since 2021.

SAS has donated dozens of science pocket guides on a variety of subjects to earlier Wiz Quiz winners in Washington, Idaho, California and Colorado.
