School levy, hospital issues topic of Jan. 24 forum
NEWPORT - The Newport School District and Newport Hospital & Health Services will each be presenting information to the public Saturday, Jan. 24 at the Public Utility District’s conference room at 131 N. Washington Ave. in Newport. The meeting starts at 1 p.m.
Newport School District Superintendent Dave Smith will explain the upcoming levy and bond election.
Hospital District Administration will address local issues that face the hospital.
Each presentation will be followed by a facilitated question-and-answer opportunity.

The following areas will be screened: cognitive (thinking and pre-academic skills), communication (speech and language), fine motor (writing, drawing, cutting, visual/motor), gross motor (balance, throwing, kicking), vision and hearing.
The Newport School District provides a variety of special programs for children in Newport schools. Many of these programs are also available to preschoolers with special needs, and at no cost to parents.
By identifying a child’s special needs at an early age, the district hopes to provide the child a better opportunity to reach his or her full learning potential.
People with preschool aged children who would like to schedule to have screened, or for more information about the services available, contact Keri Leslie at 447-3167 ext. 4507 or email [email protected].
