PRIEST RIVER — The Priest River Lamanna High School girls’ basketball team lost another game last week, keeping them at fourth place in the 3A Central Idaho league.
Priest River (5-7, 1-5) visited Kellogg (9-4, 4-0) Thursday, Jan. 15, losing 58-31.
Kellogg took a 15-9 lead over Priest River from the first quarter. Priest River was still trailing 28-17 behind Kellogg by intermission and couldn’t get ahead through the end of the fourth quarter.
According to the Bonner County Daily Bee, McKinley Burgess- Duquette and Haylee Jepson-Church led Priest River with 9 points each. Burgess- Duquette also led in rebounds with 16. Jepsen-Church added four assists, Rice three steals.
Monday, Jan. 19, Priest River hosted Clark Fork (1-7, 0-3). Further information was not available by The Miner’s Tuesday, Jan. 20 deadline.
This weekend, the Spartans visit Timberlake at 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23.
One loss, one win for Lady Panthers
CUSICK — The Cusick High School girls’ basketball team lost another game last week, keeping the Panthers in sixth place in the Northeast 1B North league.
Tuesday, Jan. 13 Cusick (2-10, 1-9) visited Inchelium (9-6, 5-5), who Cusick lost to 50-69.
Cusick came out strongest in the first quarter, leading 17-12. But Inchelium quickly retook the lead, heading into intermission 26-25 over Cusick. The gap only widened to 46-39 in the third quarter, and Inchelium solidified their win with a 23-11 score in the fourth quarter.
Jazzlyn Ostlie led Cusick with 16 points, 12 of which were from four 4-pointers. Gracie Person added 12 points from three 3-pointers, Dalilah Littlecrow-Curtis 12 points, one of which was a 3-pointer.
Saturday, Jan. 17, Cusick hosted Columbia (0-14, 0-12), winning 44-24.
Tuesday, Jan. 20, Cusick visited Republic after The Miner’s weekly deadline.
The Panthers next host Selkirk at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22 in the Battle for the Paddle. Over the weekend, the Panthers host Curlew at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, before hosting St. John-Endicott at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26.
Lady Grizzlies head to Colville
NEWPORT – The Newport girls’ wrestling heads to the League Mixer at Colville High School Thursday, Jan. 22 at 5 p.m. On Friday-Saturday, Jan. 23-24 it’s off to University High in Spokane Valley for the Pacific Northwest Classic with wrestling tentatively scheduled to start at 4 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday.
