LEWISTON – The Priest River Lamanna High wrestling team put on a good show at the annual Clearwater Classic in Lewiston Friday-Saturday, Jan. 16-17. Priest River scored 79.5 points and placed 15th out of 25 scoring teams.
Spartan Justin Hopkins, 98-pounds, won five of his six bouts by pin, earning a silver medal. Levi Holbrook, 98, competing in the same weight class, took fourth with three victories via pin. Tadhg McLaimtaig, 113, had two wins, one by technical fall and another by pin, and placed sixth for the Spartans. At 144-pounds, Bill Rapier had four wins with pins in the first rounds and Haiden Leach, 157, put in three wins.
For Priest River girls, Naia Lamb, 120-pounds, won a match by technical fall and another by pin. The Lady Spartans placed 20th with 8.5 points.
Coming up, the Spartans travel to Newport for the Battle of The Border Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 6 p.m.
