Diamond Lake-based author Elaine Magdalene Faires read a poem to special education students at Priest River Elementary School, Thursday, Jan. 22 in Priest River. This was one of 30 poems Faires compiled into “30 Animal Stories and Pictures,” a children’s poetry book released in 2025. About six students were in attendance during Faires’ reading, asking and answering questions about the animals in each illustration, all of which were created by Faires’ teenage niece Sophia Clark of Deer Park.
