PRIEST RIVER – The Priest River Spartan boys’ basketball team got a solid 65-45 non-league win over Coeur du Christ Tuesday night Jan. 20, at Priest River.
“The team played well together,” Spartan coach Brian Hall said. “We set some goals and accomplished them as a team.”
The Spartans got out to 16-10 first quarter lead and went into halftime up with a 11-point lead, 33-22. The Spartans continued to roll in the third quarter, adding eight points to their lead based on 19-12 third quarter and finished the game with a 13-11 fourth quarter.
“We were able to run like we want and control the tempo of the game,” Hall said. “Ian Lamanna had a great game with 18 points, six rebounds, and three steals. Madden Redinger, who is back from a pre-holiday surgery, came out and had an excellent game.” Redinger scored 16 points, had five steals and three assists.
Hall said the team rebounded well, with 28 rebounds. The Spartans had 15 steals, 14 assists and six blocked shots, with only five turnovers.
Lucas Matthews had six rebounds and eight points to go with four assists. Ayson Simcox blocked two shots, pulled down four rebounds and had one steal to go with 11 points.
The Spartans played a Central Idaho League game at Kellogg Thursday, Jan. 29 after newspaper deadline. They go to Newport for a game Friday, Jan. 30, at 7:30 p.m. The Spartans are back home for a league game with Orofino Saturday, Jan. 31, at 3 p.m.
