KOOSKIA – Priest River High wrestlers did well for themselves at the North/South Duals held Friday and Saturday, Jan. 23-24 at Clearwater Valley High. Freshman Tadhg McLaimtaig, 113 pounds, chalked up five wins by pin, one by major decision and three by forfeit for an overall record of 9-1 as the Spartans went 4-6.
According to the Bonner County Daily Bee, Liam Pettit, 126 pounds, took eight wins, six by pin and two by forfeit, Bill Rapier, 144, went 6-4 with six wins by pin and Darien Ratzlaff, 215, went 7-3 with four wins by forfeit, two by pin and one by major decision. Priest River defeated Grangeville (36-35), Salmon (38-18), Kamiah (36-30) and Melba (48-24) across the two-day tournament.
At 120 pounds, Jack Zalewski went 5-5 with four wins by pin, Levi Holbrook, 98, got eight wins by forfeit and a win by pin. Justin Hopkins, 106, collected seven wins by forfeit and a win by pin.
The Spartans lost matches to Malad (75-12), Nampa Christian (40-30), Ririe (52-30), Tri-Valley (57-30), West Side (40-30) and West Jefferson (48-36).
Coming up, Priest River travels to Bonners Ferry Friday, Feb. 6 (TBA).
