PRIEST RIVER — The Priest River Lamanna High School girls’ basketball team won twice and lost once last week, keeping them fourth in the 3A Central Idaho league.
Thursday, Jan. 29, Priest River (8-8, 2-6) visited St. Maries (0-14, 0-8), winning 45-31.
Priest River took a 13-4 lead in the first quarter, holding onto it as the teams headed into intermission 17-10. Though St. Maries kept pace 9-9 in the third quarter, Priest River widened their lead 19-12 in the fourth quarter.
Aleigha Jensen led Priest River with 17 points, 12 of which were from four 3-pointers. Haylee Jepson and Haley Rice, who added 7 and 5 points, made one 3-pointer each. McKinley Burgess-Duquette added 11 points.
Newport (4-14, 3-8) hosted Priest River Friday, Jan. 30 for the 2026 Battle of the Border, which the Spartans won 50-38. (See related story.)
Saturday, Jan. 31, Priest River hosted Orofino (7-9, 4-2), losing 44-36.
In the first quarter, Orofino took a 17-8 lead that Priest River fought to overtake for the rest of the game. Priest River managed to outscore Orofino 10-7 in the second quarter, then stay 9-9 with Orofino in the third quarter. Still in the lead 33-27, Orofino pulled further ahead in the fourth quarter, scoring 11-9 over Priest River.
Jensen led Priest River with 14 points, 3 of which were from a 3-pointer, followed by Burgess-Duquette with 12 points.
The Central Idaho league districts start Monday, Feb. 9.
