A community CERT meeting will take place Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. at Harvest Community Fellowship, at 52 Sitton Road and Highway 2, south of Newport.
Basic CERT training is set for April 17–19, a program manager course May 5–7 and instructor training May 8–10.
Pend Oreille County CERT is supported entirely through community donations.
Feb. 9 through April 20, CERT is partnering with the South Pend Oreille Fire & Rescue Auxiliary to collect gently used wearable items — clothing, shoes, hats and jewelry — to support training and equipment.
Donations may be dropped off at South Pend Oreille fire stations located in downtown Newport, Diamond Lake and Sacheen Lake, including Stations 11, 31 and 32.
