NEWPORT — Pend Oreille County Public Utility District is seeking support for its Neighbors in Need Program, which provides energy assistance to local families and individuals facing financial hardship.

All donations stay in the county and help qualifying households keep their lights on during difficult times, according to a PUD news release. Contributions of any size make a meaningful difference for local community members experiencing unexpected challenges, especially during the colder months.

As thanks, customers who visit the PUD Administration Building in Newport and donate in February will receive a free PUD tote bag, while supplies last. Donations are tax-deductible.

Customers can also support the program in several other ways, such as by enrolling in Operation Round Up, which rounds monthly electric bills up to the nearest dollar; adding a one-time or recurring donation to their bill; pledging a set monthly amount; or mailing a check to PUD – Neighbors in Need, PO Box 190, Newport, WA 99156.

For more information or to sign up, visit popud. org, email csr@popud. org or call 509-4473137.
