NEWPORT – The Greater Newport Area Chamber of Commerce held its annual gala Saturday, Feb. 7, celebrating local businesses of the Pend Oreille River Valley community. There were 12 categories where awards were given, including the following: Small Business of The Year – Ruby Creek Resort Large Business of The Year – STCU Small Town Hospitality – Kelly’s Bar and Grill Citizen of The Year – Gretchen Koenig Non-Profit of The Year – Pend Oreille Playhouse Social Media Superstar – My Sidewalk Café Best Storefront – Newport Vision Source Best Place to Work – Kalispel Tribe of Indians Best Event – Newport Rodeo Hidden Gem – Horton’s Enterprises Best Startup Success – Cole’s Coffee Heart of Service – Cody Abbott Pend Oreille Realty The Greater Newport Area Chamber of Commerce welcomes membership from businesses in Newport, Oldtown, Cusick, Usk, Metaline Falls, Ione and Diamond Lake. General meetings are held once a quarter in January, April, July and October 6-7 p.m. at with an hour breakout question and answer and social session following the meeting. The Chamber committee is comprised of volunteers, which are always welcome.
