NEWPORT — Holly Waterman is the February Girl of The Month selected by Soroptimist International of Newport.
“I have spent my life surrounded by powerful women. My mom, two older sisters, and grandmas are the inspiration for all that I do,” Waterman wrote in an email. “I am proud to be an independent student, leader, and athlete; thanks to the guidance I have gotten from the women mentors in my life.”
Waterman is currently finishing her senior year at Newport High School, and she plans to go to college to study food sciences and specialize in women’s nutrition.
“I want young girls to look to me to see what they are capable of,” Waterman said. “I find great peace in martial arts, listening to music, and playing the guitar.”
