IONE — The Selkirk Ranger wrestling team is headed to the WIAA Mat Classic after winning top spots at the state qualifying tournament in Freeman Saturday, Feb. 14.
According to coach JL Chantry, Jaxson Chantry, 150-pounds, Jameson Davis, 165, both won first place in their weight categories. Davis won by a pin and Chantry won by decision, 4-0. Tristan Vanarsdall, 175, won fourth place.
“They did great,” Chantry said. “We’re a small, but gritty team and they have really put I the effort. I’m excited to see what they do this week.”
The Mat Classic is at the Tacoma Dome Friday–Saturday, Feb. 20–21.
