Priest River public comment wanted

PRIEST RIVER — Residents who would like to weigh in on their city’s next moves will want to attend one of the comprehensive plan public workshops coming up in March, hosted by the city of Priest River.

The City Council completed its review of the draft Comprehensive Plan and authorized the City to move forward with the public engagement phase, according to Jake Gabell, Priest River Planning and Zoning Administrator.

The Comprehensive Plan guides longterm decisions related to land use, housing, transportation, infrastructure, recreation and community character over the next 20 years. Before final revisions and adoption, the City is seeking feedback through multiple participation options.

All relevant draft documents, including the full plan and supporting materials, are uploaded to the City’s website and are available for public review.

“The public survey is active, and the City is formally inviting community input as part of this phase,” Gabell said in a press release.

Residents and stakeholders may participate by reviewing the draft plan and supporting documents online, completing the public survey, submitting written comments through the online comment form and attending one of two in-person workshops at the West Bonner Library in Priest River. The first one is March 5, followed by another on March 19. Both are on a Thursday and go from 3:30–6:30 p.m.

At each workshop, community members can review printed copies of the draft plan, view informational displays, participate in interactive feedback boards and submit written comments.

“Broad participation during this phase is important in helping shape Priest River’s long-term vision,” Gasbell said.
