Man dies in single-vehicle accident

NEWPORT — A man died following a single vehicle crash Wednesday, March 4, on the 400 block of Coyote Trail Road, on the Newport side of Deer Valley Road, according to Pend Oreille County Sheriff Glenn Blakeslee.

Garrett Hollis, 46, of Newport was found unresponsive in a 1991 Dodge pickup after a citizen reported the vehicle rolled over in the ditch with an occupant trapped inside and the lights on about 5:15 p.m., Blakeslee said.

According to the Washinton State Patrol, the WSP received a call for a technician to come to the scene of a 1991 Dodge pickup that was involved in a one-vehicle, one-occupant crash on Coyote Trail Road about 5:25 p.m. Hollis died before the WSP arrived said Sgt. Greg Riddell, public information officer for WSP. He said there had been a report of the truck driving erratically about 5 p.m.
