Priest River ‘Bull of the Woods’, citizen, person, non-profit nominations open
PRIEST RIVER – The Priest River Chamber of Commerce’s nominations for the ‘Bull of the Woods’ Citizen of the Year, Business of the Year and Non-Profit of the year are coming due. Nominations will be accepted through the end of March.The Bull of The Woods is honored at Timber Days in July. “Now is the time to recognize the men and women who keep our logging industry strong,” reads a poster soliciting nominations. Natural cause for prisoner who died last August
NEWPORT – The Spokane County Medical Examiner said Brett Randall Dison, who died in Pend Oreille County Jail Thursday, Aug. 28, 2025 died of a sudden cardiac event, a natural cause. He was 61 years old. Dison had atherosclerotic and hypertensive cardiovascular disease, according to the medical examiner.
Dison was arrested Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2025, charged with unlawful possession of a firearm.
Sullivan Lake Road closed to remove rock
METALINE FALLS – Sullivan Lake Road between milepost 8.3 (Inlet Bridge) to milepost 12.4 (Outlet Bridge) will be closed until further notice. The road is closed by a huge rock that is too large for county equipment to move so the county must hire a contractor to remove it, said Pend Oreille County Commissioner Robert Rosencrantz.

Wildfire preparation this Saturday
PRIEST RIVER — A wildfire preparedness presentation is noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 14 at Priest River Community Church Horizon Building. The event is sponsored by the church and the presentation will be done by Bonner County Emergency Management.
