CHENEY – Newport Little Guys Wrestlers was on fire last week when 47 wrestlers went to Eastern Washington University to compete Saturday, March 14, taking home a total of 53 pins, 23 medals and 33 wrestlers placing in the top four. Spencer Warren competed in two brackets to ensure an opponent had the chance to wrestle.

“We are incredibly proud of him for that decision,” Little Guys volunteer Mandy Comstock said in an email.

“What really stood out was their grit and determination,” coach Brett Stigall said. “For a lot of these kids this was their first time competing on a stage this big and they didn’t back down. They trusted their training and competed hard and watching that growth is why I love coaching.”

Coming up for the Little Guys, the boys go to Colville and the girls go to West Valley Saturday, March 21. Wrestling begins at 9 a.m.
