NEWPORT – Celebrating three years in business, Vessel Gallery and Clay Studio in Newport has become a hub for potters, painters and jewelry makers. The clay studio offers pottery classes for both children and adults, hosted at the studio and at locations throughout the community. The gallery itself is filled with original artwork created by local artisans. Founder Angela Drew has announced plans to close the business as she prepares to move out of state. However, the artists connected to Vessel believe the creative experiences fostered there do not have to come to an end.
Several members and guest artists feel the young business holds strong potential to grow into something even greater.
They are exploring the possibility of continuing the gallery and studio under the same name as a community-centered creative space.
Current artists will gather on Wednesday, March 25 to discuss the feasibility of launching a new business that would carry forward the vision of making art a vital part of the community.
Anyone interested in being part of this grassroots venture is invited to join the conversation.
The meeting will be held March 25 at 5:30 p.m. at Vessel Gallery and Clay Studio, 331 S. Washington Ave., Newport. For more information, call 509-703-4886.
