Community garden meeting next Tuesday

PRIEST RIVER — The Priest River Community Garden annual kick-off meeting is 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 24 at the Priest River Library. The garden is located behind God’s Provision Thrift Shop, 544 Hwy.

Garden plots are available. Most plot boxes are assembled and available to plant.

Cost for 3x18 plots are $15 per year, 4x18 plots $20 per year and 6x18 plots $30 per year. Plots are free for those in need who help with the garden. There is also a $5 plot discount for last year’s plot holders who help with garden.

Free child developmental checkups

PRIEST RIVER – A Well Child Developmental Check Up Screener will be held Friday, March 27, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Priest River Elementary School. The screenings are free and children ages birth through 5 years old will be screened in the following areas: speech, language, gross motor, fine motor, readiness, hearing, vision and other developmental areas. These screenings are sponsored by the West Bonner County School District #83 and The Idaho Infant/Toddler Program.

The Priest River Elementary school is located at 231 Harriet St., in Priest River. Screening is by appointment only.

At the scheduled appointment time, only one adult will be allowed to accompany the child. To schedule an appointment for a child, call 208-4481181, extension 3116 and ask for Victoria Zook.

Free food Thursday

NEWPORT – There will be a free food distribution through 2nd Harvest Thursday, March 19, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Newport Rodeo Grounds.

No appointments or documentation is required.

This is a drive-thru event while supplies lasts, sponsored by the American Lutheran Church of Newport.

The rodeo grounds are located across from 103 Garden Ave., Newport.
