Dawn Savage found the first buttercup of the season on Warren Avenue in Newport Tuesday, March 10. The first buttercup has been a tradition at The Miner Newspaper and Owen’s Grocery and Deli for decades. It’s usually found in the Blanchard or Diamond Lake areas, but this year’s was found right in Newport. Friday, March 20 is the first day of spring. Will it stop snowing before then?
