RITZVILLE — The Newport Grizzlies baseball team won both games of a doubleheader with Lind-Ritzville-Sprague Saturday, March 21, taking the first game 16-12 and the second 15-0.
The game was 10-10 after four innings, with Newport tying the game with a six run fourth inning after LRS took a 6-3 first inning lead. The teams played a scoreless fifth inning, Newport got a run in the sixth and extended the lead with a 6 run seventh inning. LRS scored two in the bottom of the inning but couldn’t close the gap.
“We used five different pitchers in order to get the W,” Newport coach Thad Trepanier says. Gavin Estrada pitched the first three innings, Landon Durant pitched the fourth, Kole Keogh pitched the fifth, Carter Brandtner pitched the sixth and Danner Clarke pitched the seventh.
