PRIEST RIVER — The Priest River Lamanna High School softball team lost season opener last week.
Thursday, March 19, the Spartans (1-2) played a double at home against Bonners Ferry (2-0), losing 26-13 and 23-9.
“Bonners is definitely a tough team,” Berns says. “But my girls gave it their best.”
McKinley Burgess-Duquette hit an RBI double, while both Toni Marinello and Lilly Kennedy had singles, according to the Bonner County Daily Bee. Some Spartans have either not played softball since little league, or not played softball at all, Berns says.
“I’m sure they will continue to improve as the season progresses,” Berns says. “I’m proud of the work they are putting in.”
The Spartans hosted St. Maries Tuesday, March 24, after The Miner’s weekly deadline. They visit Grangeville thrice this weekend: at 2 p.m. Friday, March 27, and at noon and 2 p.m. Saturday, March 28.
