PRIEST RIVER — The Priest River Spartans baseball team handily bested the Bonners Ferry junior varsity team at home Thursday, March 19, getting a 17-7 win.
Priest River coach Jeff Best says the game went well.
“Our pitching was good and our batting was excellent great way to start the season hopefully we can keep things going as we get into our league games,” says Best. “We have a really good group of baseball players.”
Dave Findley hit a triple and a double and went 3-for-3 at bat for the Spartans.
Brayden Elder also hit a triple Brady Hatten went 4-for-5 at bat. Layton Goins hit a double, going 3-for-5 at bat. Jacob Best and Broden Collins both hit doubles.
After trailing 6-1 going into the bottom of the second inning, Priest River came roaring back with 5 runs when they came up to bat. They added 3 more runs in the next inning, 1 in the sixth and 5 in the fifth inning before the game was called in the sixth inning.
Priest River played St. Maries Tuesday, March 24 at home. They go to Grangeville Friday and Saturday, according to the Spartan website. Friday’s game starts at 4 p.m. and the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader starts at noon.
