NEWPORT — The Newport High School Hall of Fame is accepting nominations. Nominations are due before Thursday, April 16.
To nominate a candidate, send the name to the Selection Committee chair Suzy Schwab-Gamma, [email protected], PO Box 1075, Priest River, Idaho 83856. There is a nomination form to complete. It can be found online at www.newportgriz.com/ domain/29.
The candidate must have graduated from Newport High School at least 10 years prior to nomination. A maximum of three candidates will be inducted each year. Nominees must have outstanding moral character.
Candidates who have distinguished themselves in the arts, academic fields, humanitarian endeavors, professional career accomplishments, community service, athletics at a college or professional level, exceptional contributions to the Newport School District and distinguished military service are all eligible for nomination.
Newport High School Alumni Hall of Fame inductees include: 1972 graduate Craig Crotteau, inducted in 2024 for accomplishments as an attorney and in the military; 1971 graduate Micki Weisbarth, inducted in 2024 for community service; 1950 graduate Alice Warner, inducted in 2023 for community service; 1981 graduate Bobby Coleman, inducted in 2023 for military service; 1968 graduate Stanley Ratcliff inducted in 2023 for military and community service; 1993 graduate Cheyenne Jackson inducted in 2022 for art and humanitarian; 1984 graduate Kervin Waterman inducted in 2022 for military service; 1975 graduate Lola Rickey inducted in 2022 for community service; 1933 graduate James A. Sewel inducted in 2021 as for community service and as a civil engineer; 1948 graduate Dale Chamberlain inducted in 2021 for community service and as a general manager; 1947 graduate Orville B. (OB) Scott inducted in 2021 for community service, serving in the Navy and as a lumber yard manager; 1987 graduate Shawn Sundseth inducted in 1987 for his service in the Air Force; 1956 graduate Don Ellersick as a civil engineer and pro football player; 1960 graduate John Hall inducted in 2017 as an attorney and superior court judge and 1949 graduate Lyle Balderson inducted in 2017 for athletics, serving in the Navy and being a city planner.
