Mark your calendars for Easter egg hunts

Dust off those baskets and make sure your kids have their running shoes on. With Easter Sunday coming up this week, there are several community Easter egg hunts and events in the Pend Oreille River Valley on both sides of the Idaho and Washington border. Dress for the weather and be sure to arrive early, as most hunts start promptly at the designated time.

Newport

Head to the Newport City Park for the annual Easter egg hunt Saturday, April 4, starting promptly at 10 a.m. The hunt is hosted by the Greater Newport Area Chamber of Commerce and local businesses.

Cusick

The Annual Easter Egg Hunt is Saturday, April 4, 10 a.m. at the Cusick Fairgrounds, snow, rain, or shine. Age groups include 0-3, 4-5, 6-7, 8-10 and 1112. There will be candy, prizes and the Easter Bunny will be there. This event is sponsored by the Cusick American Legion Auxiliary.

Ione

The Annual Ione Easter Egg Hunt is Saturday, April 4 at noon at the Ione Park for ages 12 and younger. There will be real and plastic eggs. The event is sponsored by the Ione Food Court, Fire District 2, Ione Events and SpecialTeez, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and the Haney, Saxe and Mondich Families.

Metaline

The Easter egg hunt is Sunday, April 5, noon at the Metaline Waterfront Park. Kids 14 and under are welcome. The event is sponsored by the American Legion Post and Auxiliary Unit No. 144.

Priest River

The Annual Priest River Easter Egg Hunt is Saturday, April 4 at noon at Priest River City Park. There will be over 6,000 candy-filled eggs with s chance to win Easter baskets, raffles and more. If donations allow there will be a teen/adult hunt again after the kids’ egg hunt.

Laclede

Sponsored by the Laclede Community Center, the annual Easter egg hunt is Saturday, April 4, 10 a.m. at the Riley Creek Park. Don’t be late.

Spirit Lake

Spirit Lake Baptist Church hosts an Easter egg hunt at 10 a.m. There will be refreshments for children and adults. Early worship starts at 8:30 a.m., with second service at 11 a.m.

The church is located at 32129 N. 3rd Ave., Spirit Lake.
