SPOKANE - Another Little Guys wrestling season is complete, culminating with Newport Wrestling Club joining 85 other wrestling clubs at the Spokane Arena for the 40th annual Jason Crawford Memorial Tournament Saturday, April 4. There were over 2,300 youth wrestlers with more than 5,000 spectators in attendance.
“It has been amazing watching the kids develop,” Coach Tag says. “Saturday showed the improvement in skill and desire they put forth to be the best they can be.”
NWC took 39 wrestlers, 12 of whom placed in the top four, and 24 pins were brought home.
A few Newport wrestlers are moving on from their last Little Guys season, including Emilie Baugh, Whitley Gregory, Spencer Warren, Tristin Johnston, and Wyatt Fenton.
“We cannot wait to watch what you do on the mat during your high school career,” volunteer Mandy Comstock says. “We wish each of you the best and are excited to see your growth in the next four years.”
