NEWPORT — The annual Newport Renaissance Faire is Saturday, May 9 at the Newport Rodeo Grounds from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The rodeo grounds will be transformed into a medieval village featuring artisan booths, food stalls and vendors. Entry to the event is free, but donations to the Pend Oreille County Library District and/or Newport Creative District are welcome. There will also be jousting and Society for Creative Anachronism Combat.
This is a family-friendly, alcohol-free event. People are encouraged to dress in costume, but it’s not required.
This is the fifth annual Renaissance Faire in Newport. The Pend Oreille County Library District started the event, which has grown each year. Last year POLCD began partnering with the Newport Creative District and the Newport Rodeo Association. This year's event has received 72 applicants for vendors, demonstrators and performers. Expected attendance is approximately 1,500 people.
Organizers are still accepting sponsorships for the event, as well as volunteers.
