The South Pend Oreille Fire and Rescue extricated a man from a vehicle following a wreck on Fertile Valley Road Wednesday night, April 15. “He was pinned against a tree and actually called 911 himself to say he was trapped,” SPOFR Fire Chief Shane Stocking said. SPOFR has spent more than $10,000 on advanced extrication equipment and vehicle stabilization tools last year to enhance its ability to respond to situations like this, Stocking said. Crews stabilized the vehicle and used tools to open the vehicle up and free the man, who declined medical attention, Stocking said.
