BRIEFLY

NEWPORT — Local real estate professional Karen Tucker of Professional Realty Services is hosting the Newport Seed Swap, a free community event designed to bring together gardeners, plant lovers and those simply curious about growing their own plants.

The event is 1–3 p.m. Saturday, May 2 at TJ Kelly Park in Newport and is open to the public. Attendees are invited to bring seeds, seedlings, plant starts or cuttings to share, though participation is not required to attend.

The Newport Seed Swap is intended to be a relaxed, welcoming gathering where community members can connect, exchange ideas and get inspired for the growing season — regardless of experience level.

“This event is really about bringing people together in a simple, meaningful way,” Tucker said in a news release.

In addition to the seed swap, guests can enjoy lemonade and cookies, browse organized seed tables and participate in door prize giveaways at the event. As part of the event, Tucker is also organizing a “Seeds of Creativity” donation drive, collecting new or gently used art supplies to support local youth programs at Create Arts Center. Donations will help provide materials for children’s classes, workshops and creative experiences in the community.

“Whether someone comes with seeds to share or just wants to stop by and connect, everyone is welcome,” Tucker said in the news release. “Adding the art supply drive is just another way we can give back locally while we’re gathering.”

The Newport Seed Swap reflects Tucker’s ongoing commitment to building community connections through events that are approachable, engaging and service-oriented.
