WASHINGTON D.C. - Cusick students recently returned from an educational trip to Washington, D.C., where they experienced the nation’s history, government, and culture firsthand. The trip gave students an opportunity to visit some of the country’s most significant historical landmarks while learning more about how the federal government works.

During their time in Washington D.C, students toured the U.S. Capitol, Arlington National Cemetery and many memorials honoring American service members and leaders. The group also visited all the major Smithsonian Museums. This trip was organized and led by Cusick High School Teachers, Ryan and Aubrey Markel.

One highlight of the trip was meeting with U.S. Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell, along with a private Capital tour arranged through the office of Congressman Michael Baumgartner.

Students asked questions and engaged with their Senators on the issues of housing affordability, access to public lands and immigration policy.

Cusick Schools thanks the many community members, local businesses and organizations whose generosity made the trip possible at no cost to students.

“Special thanks to Mrs. Bess Hardie for organizing the November dinner auction, The Kalispel Tribe, The Cusick American Legion and Sons of the American Legion for their generous support,” Ryan Markel said.
