Opening on Board of Equalization

NEWPORT – Pend Oreille County has an opening on the Board Of Equalization (BOE) for a citizen interested in serving as an alternate member to complete a 3-year term expiring Dec. 31, 2026. The BOE functions as an appeals board to hear tax assessment appeals and to act as an equalization board.

Deer Valley Transfer Station offers coupons

NEWPORT – Pend Oreille County Solid Waste is announcing its plan to correct perceived overcharging at the Deer Valley Transfer Station while the scale was broken. A numbered coupon for a free minimum dump fee ($14 value) will be provided to any residential customer who was charged more than the $14 minimum rate at the Deer Valley Transfer Station between March 22 and April 15.

Customers must bring in their original receipt or other evidence of payment to the Deer Valley Transfer Station to receive a coupon. Customers must present documentation by May 31 to receive coupon. This offer only applies to the Deer Valley Transfer Station.
