NEWPORT — The Pend Oreille County Art Fair for youth, hosted by Pend Oreille Events and CREATE Arts Center, is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 16 at Sadie Halstead Middle School.

Children pre-kindergarten through 12th grade are encouraged to enter. The 2026 theme is Spring Renewal: Honoring fresh starts, natural beauty and the energy of a new season. Kids can create any all-audience- appropriate art they would like but will earn extra points for aligning with the theme.

Artwork must be dropped off no later than 3:30 p.m. Friday, May 15 at Sadie Halstead Middle School.

Artwork pickup is between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday, May 16. Public viewing is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the same day. All artworks should be labeled with the student’s name and grade and be ready for display if the piece needs a frame, stands or hangers.

For safety reasons, artwork must not include hazardous materials, liquids, food-based art or knives and other weapon components. All projects are to be school- and age-appropriate. Students must receive approval from POE before starting their art project; Find that form at install.page/pendoreilleevents.

Artwork will be handled carefully by volunteers, but POE cannot insure or guarantee against damage. POE and Newport School District do not assume responsibility for any items left behind.

Younger students may have a parent or teacher assist with submission. This is a home-led project. There will be prizes and awards for best in show of each category.
