METALINE FALLS — The Cutter Theatre will present an original musical in conjunction with the Bigfoot Festival.
“Bigfoot & Squish Boots” is written by Ellen Henry-Nordstrom, with music by Tim Nordstrom and Donivan Johnson.
The theatre will feature at least 14 local children. Tara Leininger will be directing the production for The Cutter Theatre.
Open auditions will be held at the Cutter Theatre at 3:40 p.m.
Thursday, May 28 and at 10 a.m. Friday, May 29.
There is an age restriction of 8 through 14 years old. The children should be able to handle behavior discipline, as the rehearsal schedule is a short one; there are only 13 rehearsals prior to the performance on June 19. All children — public school or home school— are welcome to participate, and if possible, all auditioners will be in the show.
The play features two 'tweens' — one human, the other not. Other parts include two dogs, various woodland animals and a 'bouquet' of flowers.
All parts are active and singing roles. The play is designed much like the familiar Missoula Children's Theatre productions at The Cutter, with afterschool and Friday morning rehearsals.
While many will know Donivan and Leininger, Nordstrom graduated from Selkirk High School in 1994 — and was known as a trumpet player, actor and baseball player, as well as an honor student. Henry- Nordstrom married Nordstrom, and the two have created a busy and artistic life on the westside.
Working with Johnson, Nordstrom and Henry- Nordstrom created an opportunity for the local children to be involved in theatre.
The performance kicks off Metaline Falls Bigfoot Festival weekend, with one show on at 6 p.m.
Friday, June 19.
Information and the rehearsal schedule are available at the Cutter office, open from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, or by calling 509-4464108.
