IONE – The Selkirk track and field team had a great showing at the NE 1B Sub-District Qualifier Tuesday, May 12 at Valley Christian with senior Jameson Davis winning first place in the 400-meter varsity race with a season’s best (SB) of 52.94. Junior Kaden Strickler won second place in the 300-meter hurdles at 49.47. He also took third in the 110-meter hurdles with a personal best (PB) of 19.19. Sophomore Oscar Dispenza was fourth in the 3200-meter with a time of 11:16.72.
The boys’ 4x400 relay team of Strickler, Davis, Tristan VanArsdall and Waite Fisher- Rice placed third at 3:55.14.
In boys’ field events Davis won first place in the javelin with 157-feet, 4-inches. He also took third place in discus, throwing 118-feet, 0.5-inches. Sophomore Trajan McIntosh placed sixth with a PB of 35-feet in shot put. Classmate Fisher-Rice came in seventh with 33-feet, 9.25-inches.
For the Lady Rangers senior Rowan Hampson came in third in the 200-meter race with a time of 29.38. She was fifth in the 400-meter with a SB of 1:08.59. Junior Morgan Hendershott won first place in the 300-meter hurdles with a PB of 53.41. She also took third in the 100-meter hurdles with a PB of 18.66.
Next up Selkirk heads to the 1B District 6 Championships at Valley Christian, Wednesday, May 20 at 2 p.m. This will be the state qualifying meet.
